In the peace of the Sabarmati River in the West Bank, tree-lined grounds, this practice was Gandhi's headquarters from 1917 to 1930 of the long struggle of India's independence process. He reportedly chose this site because it lays the prison, between a cemetery and any satyagrahi (nonviolent resistance) is bound to end up in one or the other. Gandhi's poignant, humble abode is preserved and there is a museum, showing moving his life and teachings, and well documented.
It was from here, on March 12, 1930, Gandhi and 78 companions set out in the famous Salt March to Dandi, on the Gulf of Cambay, in a symbolic protest, Gandhi vowed not to return to practice until India gained independent. Retreat was disbanded in 1933, and later became the center of Dalit welfare activities and cottage industries. After Gandhi’s death in front of some of his ashes were immersed in the river of practice.
 
This is about five kilometers north of Lal Darwaja. There are three sites, such as:

1 Magan Niwas: Maganlal Gandhi is Gandhi's nephew, his followers because the real Phoenix gathering held in South Africa. Gandhi told him, of which he was the architect and efficient management, "the party's soul." He introduced Charkha- different upgrade designed spinning wheel. It became a symbol of the revolution, and ultimately gave birth to khadi. 
 
2 Upasana Mandir (Prathana Bhoomi): Gandhi believed prayer as the soul of the ultimate food. This helps him in taking important decisions individuals and nations. Therefore, in the morning and end in the evening before the start of work, prayer and ashramites she regularly provided in this place. They listen bhajans- hymns, sometimes, reading holy song form, the Koran and the Bible.
